The Mary Stevens Hospice.

How we helped.

The Mary Stevens Hospice provide personalised hospice care in Dudley and the surrounding areas. When we partnered with them, their existing website presented several challenges. Navigation was confusing and important pages were buried - resulting in a frustrating user-journey. On top of that, the hospice team had limited ability to manage or update content, leading to frustration and an outdated online presence that no longer reflected them.

Our goal was to create a bespoke website that not only solved these usability issues but also captured the heart of the hospice’s mission. To achieve this, we began with a brand messaging workshop on-site, helping the team define a tone and language that resonated with their diverse audiences - patients, supporters, and healthcare professionals. We also partnered with the fantastic Elizabeth Donovan to provide fresh, authentic imagery that brought their story to life.

The result? A modern, user-friendly website that not only simplifies navigation and content management but also strengthens the hospice’s ability to engage supporters and generate vital income. More than just a functional platform, the combination of thoughtful messaging and authentic photography creates a story that is both visually and emotionally compelling - bringing the hospice’s mission to life and forging a deeper connection with every visitor.

From complexity and clicks, to clarity and connection.

The project kicked off with a detailed scoping session to identify pain points and opportunities. From there, we designed a new, intuitive sitemap that prioritised visibility for key areas and streamlined navigation. We also scoped and implemented custom online forms critical to the hospice’s fundraising efforts, including:

Donation Form: A simplified, secure process for both one-off and regular donations.
Lottery Form: Allowing users to select play frequency, ticket quantity, and payment method.
Duck Race Form: Automating unique ticket number generation for raffle-style events.
Memory Tree Form: Enabling supporters to dedicate a leaf through a one-off or recurring donation.

All forms were integrated with Stripe, ensuring a smooth and secure payment experience.

To empower the hospice team, we also introduced a flexible page layout approach, enabling them to create new pages with varied content sections while maintaining consistency with the overall design and UX strategy. The refreshed design tightened brand usage, improved accessibility, and delivered a modern, welcoming look.

Content that speaks to every audience.

Our on-site messaging workshop delivered by Carly (Creative Director) and Beth (Creative Strategist) produced clear guidelines for tone, approach, and language, forming the foundation for all new website content and ensuring the hospice could communicate effectively with its diverse audiences. This ensured that the improved user journey was complemented by messaging that truly connected with visitors and reflected the hospice’s compassionate ethos.

To help build a deeper connection, we needed imagery that would reflect the hospice's warmth and care. Carly visited the hospice again, this time with Elizabeth Donovan, who perfectly captured the heartfelt moments that make The Mary Stevens Hospice truly unique.

"The support, coordination, and expertise they provided were exceptional."

We recently had the pleasure of working with Carly, Beth, and the team at GEL Studios on the development of our new website, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the experience.

The workshop they facilitated was instrumental in shaping the direction of the project. It ensured the website was firmly aligned with our mission and values from the very beginning. Their approach was thoughtful and genuinely collaborative.

Throughout the process, the team took the time to fully understand not only our website goals, but also our organisation, our staff, and the community we serve. The support, coordination, and expertise they provided were exceptional.

We are incredibly grateful for their guidance and are proud to now have a website that truly reflects who we are as an organisation.

Thank you to everyone at GEL Studios.
